The Honor of protecting the Mother Tongue and Veerukaviyarasanar

Abstract

The great poet Mudiyarasanar (17.10.1920 - 3.12.1998), popularly known as Veerukaviyarasar, has been living with us in Tamil for over a century. All his works, like Bavender Bharathidasana, deal with mother tongue, Tamil language, Tamil language, culture, civilization and art. The Crown Prince was one of those who argued that learning in another language was not as special as learning in one's mother tongue. This article reveals the norms for the protection of their mother tongue, the Tamil language.
