Makatpaarkanji Songs of Purananooru: A Study of Marxist Feminism

   

Abstract

The ancient clan (Muthukudi mannar) desisting from giving their daughter in marriage to the king whom they don’t hold as their equal, who then comes upon them in war. The king destroyed the places. This is the content of the songs of Makarparkanji. Marxsist Feminism is a new theoretical approach which is combined by Marxism and Feminism. When we exam the Makatpaarkaanji songs of Purananooru by the perspective of Marxisist Feminism, we know the State expansion also based on the body of Women. Kings will extend their imperial by the marrying daughter of Muthukudi Mannar. Mostly as Part of state expansion is the system of male dominance and ownership over women's bodies. We could identify the Makarpaarkanji songs of Purananooru, as changes in ancient clan society by integrated unites of Production – Surplus production, private property, expansion of state and control of women.
